The Rotary Club of Katy announces Postponement of Wild West Brewfest

March 12, 2020 – In the interest of public health, the Rotary Club of Katy, in agreement with the City of Katy, has decided to postpone the Wild West Brewfest (WWBF) event that was scheduled to take place at Katy Mills Mall the weekend of April 18, 2020.

A Local State of Disaster Due to a Public Health Emergency has been signed by City of Houston’s Mayor, Sylvester Turner, and both Harris and Fort Bend County have announced they will sign emergency disaster declarations. The City of Katy is aiding in the effort to contain and mitigate COVID-19 from spreading in the area. Therefore, out of precaution, the Rotary Club of Katy has decided the postponement of the WWBF is the best course of action to protect its patrons, sponsors, brewers, volunteers and Rotarians who attend the event.

“We are deeply saddened; however, the safety and well-being of our guests and our community is our top priority. The WWBF has worked hard to establish itself as a safe and enjoyable event. Having to postpone the event was a difficult decision, but it is the responsible action,” said WWBF Chairman David Loesch.

Formed in 1946, The Rotary Club of Katy has a strong membership of local businesses and professional men and women. The club is part of Rotary International and the non-profit organization plans activities and fundraisers to contribute to the local and international community. The Wild West Brewfest was founded by Katy Rotarians in 2011. It was volunteer created, is all-volunteer run and 100% of all proceeds are given back to the local community in student scholarships and donations to charitable organizations.

“The City of Katy supports the tough decision to postpone the WWBF, as it is a tremendous event and asset to our community. The leaders of the WWBF and Rotarians are known to always do the right thing, and this is no exception,” said Kayce Reina, City of Katy Tourism, Marketing and Public Relations Director.

A new event date will be determined and announced as soon as possible. “The WWBF looks forward to setting a new date soon while continuing to promote our craft beer community, our sponsors, our Rotary Club and giving back to many communities in and around Katy and Houston as we have done so for the past 8 years,” said Loesch.

The WWBF will provide additional information has it becomes available. Updates will be posted at and the event’s Facebook page.
